Body Language!

Posted: May 26, 2013 in Uncategorized

In 3º ESO we´ve been talking about behaviour across cultures. Ss are working on ppt and oral presentations to talk about cultural differences in body language and gestures, business etiquette, manners and symbols. They´re enjoying working on this topic. As an introduction I played them a video from the BBC programme The Human Animal. It´s quite a funny way of showing for example different handshakes, saying that somebody is crazy in different cultures.
Here´s the link. Hope you enjoy it.

Science Kits!

Posted: May 26, 2013 in Uncategorized

Hi everyone,

Our  5th grade students have been using their science kits in the lab. We have been making mini ecosystems suitable for their shrimp eggs to hatch. Most students have had success and have lots of little shrimps in their aquariums. We have transferred them to glass jars so that the students can take them home and look after them properly. They have to be fed once a week with algae. It was a very interesting experience for all of us. We have been studying them under the microscopes in the lab.

School Day!!

Posted: May 26, 2013 in Uncategorized

Hi everybody,

This week our school has celebrated the “School day”, a special day used to remind students about the founder of our school, Mrs. Carmen Ojeda.  For this occasion, our 4th grade students did several activities related to our Gotcha’s project for this term.  We are learning during this term about traditions around the world and traditional sports or games in other cultures.  So, our activities were related to play important games in different continents. We played for example, “Shepherd and wolf”, a traditional game in America.  It was a funny way to increase students’ motivation and knowledge about games around the world.

Our 4th grade students also had time to create posters about important discoveries throughout our history.  They learnt about the light bulb, the car, the camera,… Here you are some photos about their posters.
